About the British Space Organisation
The BSO was established in 2009 to rejuvenate interest in space science and exploration. We look to represent the interests of UK science, commerce, education and industry in its research and studies.
Our purpose is to be Britain’s gateway to space. The mission: to shape the development of Britain’s space capability and ensure that investment in space continues to deliver benefits to the citizens of the United Kingdom, Europe and the world.
At the top of our agenda is to encourage British space activity and raise awareness of what the United Kingdom has to offer in terms of skills and services, as well as promoting space exploration to a younger, and wider target group.
The Future
We aim to raise awareness on the subject of space exploration launching from the UK. What differentiates the BSO from other space organisations is that we target young people ranging from 14 and above, in order to make the future brighter for space advancements.
Your Voice in Space
Currently, we are fronting the Your Voice In Space project, which is being launched in collaboration with the highly reputed Media School at Bournemouth University.
Your Voice In Space is a project which intends to launch a probe into space. It will have a two-way transmitter which allows people to post their messages onto the website and have them uploaded to the probe which is circulating in space. The probe will contain messages from people, music videos, film snippets and other media forms which will reflect the cultural heritage of the world.
The service provided through Your Voice In Space is completely free and everybody in the world is encouraged to take part in the project. Just think, there could be life out there to hear your voice.
The Media School at Bournemouth University has been chosen to take part in the project because they have been awarded The Guardian’s best new University in the UK, and their field of expertise is, amongst others, media. There will be students from both TV Production and Interactive Media involved in maintaining the actual technology and broadcasting surrounding the probe. Students from other media courses will also be involved in the Your Voice In Space campaign.
